“Enjoy live music, shop at local stores, enjoy fresh produce, eat at one of the many restaurants in Downtown and visit with local artists…” The Downtown Street Fair was created to attract locals and visitors alike into the heart of Downtown Morgan Hill. 2nd Street. will be closed to thru traffic, to create the perfect setting for a leisurely Saturday stroll through Downtown. This event will bring people Downtown for a fun and unique experience; it will give the community a safe place to congregate and catch up with their “neighbors”, grab a cup of coffee and chat, or dance in the streets to the sound of our talented local musicians. The Downtown Street Fair Series will give Downtown businesses a chance to promote themselves in a positive way and will showcase everything Downtown has to offer, while creating a strong support for “shopping local”.
There will be live music/entertainment for each event, as well as local artisans showcasing their talents along 2nd Street. on each of these Saturday’s.
Why have a Downtown Street Fair Series?
The purpose of the Downtown Street Fair Series is to bring residents of Morgan Hill together for a fun outdoor event. This event is produced by the Morgan Hill Downtown Association, a non-profit organization created to guide and manage revitalization efforts in the heart of Morgan Hill.
This same format has been made popular in San Luis Obispo, CA where they have created a “World Famous” Farmer’s Market. Their event has been going on for many years and has been a successful attraction, drawing out-of-towners to Downtown San Luis Obispo time and time again. We look forward to your contributions and participation in this event.
When and where is the Downtown Street Fair Series?
July 19th and August 16th
Location: Downtown Morgan Hill – 2nd Street at Depot
Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Who can participate and what is the cost?
This event will be open for all groups, businesses, bands/musicians and individuals to participate in. The MHDA urges members to participate in this event, both to enhance the event itself and to benefit their own business. These Saturday’s will be a special experience for all ages – residents, tourists and participants alike. Your cooperation in helping maintain the family and community-oriented spirit is so essential to making this event a success and is greatly appreciated!
The cost for a 10 x 10 space for a Downtown Association member is $40 (or you can purchase two 10 x 10 spaces next to each other for $75. The cost for a non-member 10 x 10 space is $75 (membership information can be found at www.morganhilldowntown.org/membership) You must provide all your needed equipment, tables, racks, display cases, tents, etc. Cost for musicians/bands/live entertainment will be $25 (you provide all your own equipment). Suggested play time is three 45 minute sets. You are free to sell promotional items, such as CD’s, t-shirts, etc.
